Jennifer Powers is a Registered Certified Reflexologist and a graduate of the Nashville Academy of Reflexology. She is a member of the Reflexology Association of America, Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, and Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society
Jennifer became interested in reflexology after her own success story. She had developed plantar fasciitis and worked with a reflexologist to resolve the issue. After seeing all of the benefits that reflexology offered beyond plantar fasciitis, such as stress/anxiety relief, increased circulation, and so much more, she decided to pursue a career in reflexology. The first time she worked on a set of feet, she knew that this was what she was meant to do!

Reflexology is the scientific study of the reflexes and the practice of using specific techniques to work the reflexes in a particular way to produce a specific outcome. The primary outcome of reflexology is to relax the body in order to improve blood flow, nerve impulses, and bioelectrical energy throughout the body to allow the body to normalize and balance, which allows it to heal itself.
At Healing Powers Reflexology, specific thumb and finger techniques are used to stimulate the reflexes on the hands and feet. In doing so, the client may feel tenderness in certain reflexes or the reflexologist may feel deposits in the reflexes. Deposits were once thought to be formed by different substances, such as crystalline deposits, mineral salts, toxins, etc. Through extensive research including biopsies of the feet, Dr. Jesus Manzanares found that deposits are composed of nerve fibers, connective tissue and vascular tissue. A deposit located on a reflex impedes flow of things such as nerve impulses, blood, lymph, and vital energy. The reduction of deposits through reflexology restores the normal flow, helping the body achieve homeostasis and better health.*

Vita-Flex differs from basic reflexology in that the technique utilizes a rhythmic rolling motion. This "roll and release" movement is done with moderate pressure, and the use of specially selected essential oils to deepen relaxation and cleansing. This technique covers the leg from the knees down to the ankles, over the tops and bottoms of the feet and toes. When combined with essential oils, it can stimulate all the body systems on a physical and emotional level.
Vibrational Sound Therapy uses sound vibrations and frequencies for healing, and Color Light Therapy uses the visible light spectrum. Sound therapy uses specific vibrations that affect the nervous system, whereas color light therapy uses the different wavelengths of different colors to achieve balance. Vibrational resonance and color wavelengths may increase oxygenation of blood, enhance the immune system, increase endorphins, and decrease cortisol.
